WATCH: Mammoth Mountain Prepares for Early Ski Season Opening After Fresh Snow

Mammoth Mountain is preparing to open its winter ski season Thursday, November 5, after fresh snow helped the California resort move its opening ahead of schedule.
The resort says lifts are scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. local time, with access to three trails: Broadway, Silver Tip and Rusty's. Broadway Express, also known as Chair 1, and the Lower Panorama Gondola are expected to operate.
Crews have been getting the slopes and equipment ready for the first skiers and snowboarders. The accompanying video shows the work around the snow-covered mountain ahead of opening day.
Opening-day festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. with complimentary coffee and cocoa while supplies last, followed by the traditional first-chair celebration. Additional terrain will open as conditions allow.
The resort cautions that beginner terrain and beginner lessons will not be available at opening. Rentals will be available at Main Lodge, and intermediate and advanced private lessons can be booked in person at the ski school desk.
