Quest Diagnostics Pays Over $13 Million to Settle Giants Ticket Kickback Allegations

Quest Diagnostics has paid more than $13 million to settle allegations that it gave doctors and health care executives free New York Giants tickets and access to exclusive events to encourage laboratory referrals, according to federal prosecutors.

The Secaucus-based company allegedly provided suite seats at Giants home games, VIP training-camp access and other benefits obtained through its sponsorship agreement with the team. Prosecutors said the conduct ran from July 2013 through August 2022.

The government alleged that Quest then submitted claims to Medicare and the New York and New Jersey Medicaid programs for testing referred by clients it had entertained. The settlement addresses alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and false claims for laboratory services.

Quest also entered a five-year corporate integrity agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services' inspector general, including independent review of its compliance.

The company denies wrongdoing or violating the law. A spokesperson said Quest agreed to settle to put the matter behind it and said the integrity agreement mirrors many parts of its existing compliance program.
