Qatar on Sunday condemned an attack on one of its liquefied natural gas carriers in the Arabian Gulf, warning that the strike threatens global energy supplies.

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), the state-linked shipowner, confirmed that its LNG carrier Al Mayeda was hit by unidentified objects while transiting the Arabian Gulf on Friday evening. "None of the crew members onboard were injured, and there is no impact on the environment as a result of this incident," the company said, adding that the vessel is in a safe condition and operational. Six Indian nationals were among the crew, India's shipping minister said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the strike, and Qatari officials have not publicly attributed it. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region during the ongoing conflict with Iran.
