The Pulaski Skyway will be closed and detoured in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, November 6, until 5 a.m. Monday, November 9, for construction work in Kearny. The bridge will reopen sooner if crews finish ahead of schedule.

The closure will allow crews to jack Pier 75 and install temporary supports needed to replace the pier between Central Avenue and Hackensack Avenue, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

NJDOT recommends that drivers use the New Jersey Turnpike-Hudson County Extension where possible, including for trips to and from the Holland Tunnel. Other traffic will be directed to Route 1&9 Truck.

Northbound traffic near Newark Liberty International Airport will move from the Route 1&9 Express Lanes to the Local Lanes and follow Route 1&9 Truck toward Jersey City. Southbound traffic from Route 139 will be directed toward I-280/Route 7 and Route 1&9 Truck southbound. The ramp from Tonnele Circle to the southbound Skyway will also close.

A separate closure of the Kearny ramp to and from the Skyway begins at 11 p.m. Friday and is expected to last several months for work at Pier 77. That ramp is not part of the Monday morning reopening.

The work schedule may change because of weather or other factors. Drivers should check 511NJ for current traffic conditions before traveling.
