President Trump Renames Gulf of Mexico to ‘Gulf of America,’ Google Maps Updates Name

Google Maps has updated its platform to reflect the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” for U.S. users, following an executive order from President Donald Trump. Google stated that it follows official government sources for geographical name changes, and users in Mexico will still see the original name.

Additionally, Trump’s executive action aims to restore the name “Mount McKinley” to Alaska’s highest peak, reversing Barack Obama’s 2015 decision to rename it Denali. The FAA and U.S. Coast Guard have begun implementing the new naming conventions, emphasizing Trump’s commitment to honoring American history and values.
