NJDOT Warns of Overnight Closures at Bellmawr's I-295, Route 42 and I-76 Interchange

Drivers using the I-295, Route 42 and I-76 interchange in Bellmawr should expect overnight lane and ramp closures Saturday night as crews install structural steel for the Direct Connection project, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
The work is scheduled from 9 p.m. Saturday, November 7, until 10 a.m. Sunday, November 8. NJDOT says the extended closures and police-assisted traffic slowdowns are needed to install two steel beams at once.
On I-76 eastbound, two lanes and the Exit 1A ramp to I-295 southbound are scheduled to close, with at least one lane maintained. Drivers seeking I-295 southbound will be directed through Route 42 southbound, Exit 12, Clements Bridge Road and Route 41 southbound, then back to Route 42 northbound and Exit 14B.
The advisory also covers lane closures and traffic slowdowns on Route 42 northbound, along with restrictions affecting I-295 northbound. Drivers should follow posted detours and police directions rather than assume their usual connection will remain available.
The overnight work is part of the long-running Direct Connection project at the interchange in Camden County. The schedule can change because of weather or other conditions.
NJDOT advises motorists to use caution, expect delays and check 511NJ for current traffic conditions before traveling.
