Teaneck-based Cognizant has formed a group of more than 25,000 professionals focused on helping businesses put OpenAI technology to work.

The new OpenAI Frontier Capability Group will deliver products including ChatGPT and Codex, the company's coding tool, to clients. Its first areas of work include software engineering, updating older applications and AI-powered customer service.

The announcement concerns the organization of Cognizant's workforce. It is not an announcement of 25,000 new jobs.

Cognizant says more than 21,000 of its associates have earned over 40,000 OpenAI training badges. The company is also using OpenAI tools within its own sales and customer-success operations before bringing those approaches to clients.

The technology-services company says engineers will review consequential decisions as its tools help clients update older computer systems.
