Michigan Bombshell: Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens Crosses Party Lines to Endorse Republican Mike Rogers for Senate
Two days before the midterms, Michigan Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens crossed party lines to endorse Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate over her party's nominee, drawing furious backlash from Democratic leaders and praise from President Trump.

Rep. Haley Stevens of Michigan crossed party lines on Sunday to endorse Republican Mike Rogers in the state's closely watched U.S. Senate race, a stunning defection two days before the midterm elections.
Stevens, a Democrat, appeared alongside Rogers to back him over Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed, upending the race amid a widening feud inside Michigan's Democratic Party. A heckler disrupted the appearance, shouting "Haley is a traitor," reports said.
Top Democrats lashed out. Sen. Chuck Schumer called the move a "despicable betrayal," Rep. Nancy Pelosi said it threatened Michigan healthcare and freedoms, and former Rep. Susan Wild warned Stevens would become a "pariah."
President Trump applauded Stevens for crossing party lines to endorse Rogers, telling supporters he would "love to have" her in the Republican Party. In a post on Truth Social Sunday afternoon, Trump called her move "bravery" and said her following in Michigan is "huge."
The Michigan contest is among the most closely watched Senate races in the country, with control of the chamber at stake when voters head to the polls on Tuesday.
