Meta has acquired Conductor, a startup that helps software developers run multiple AI coding agents at the same time, as major technology companies compete to build the tools used to write software.

Conductor confirmed Wednesday that it is joining Meta. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The startup's product lets developers manage separate coding agents in parallel workspaces. The agents can work on different parts of a software project, using models supplied by AI companies rather than models developed by Conductor itself.

Conductor says its cloud service will become read-only on November 13 and shut down on November 20. Users can move cloud workspaces and chats to a Mac or export their data before the shutdown.

The local version will continue receiving new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027. The company said it plans to give users something new by early next year, without announcing the details.

The acquisition adds another developer-tool business to Meta's AI efforts. It comes as other large AI companies pursue tools that help programmers coordinate coding agents and manage the software they produce.
