Hurricane Beryl has intensified into a Category 4 storm as it nears the southeast Caribbean, prompting urgent warnings from officials. Notably this is the first ever recorded Category 4 in the month of June.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami labeled the situation as “very dangerous” with life-threatening winds and storm surge expected. Beryl, with sustained winds of 130 mph, is projected to make landfall in the Windward Islands on Monday morning.
Hurricane warnings are in place for several islands, including Barbados and St. Lucia, while residents are preparing by securing their homes and gathering supplies.
