HP Names Former GSK Chief Emma Walmsley as Next CEO
Walmsley will take over January 4, 2027, while interim chief Bruce Broussard moves to chair HP's board.

HP has named former GSK chief Emma Walmsley as its next chief executive, with the appointment set to take effect January 4, 2027.
Walmsley will succeed Bruce Broussard, who has served as interim CEO since February 2026. Broussard will become chair of HP's board on the same date, replacing Chip Bergh.
The company's board unanimously approved Walmsley's appointment following a global search. HP said her experience leading large companies across different industries helped make her its choice for the job.
Walmsley led GSK from April 2017 through December 2025. Her time there included a focus on specialty medicines and vaccines and the separation of its consumer healthcare business. She has also served on Microsoft's board for seven years.
Before becoming GSK's chief executive, Walmsley joined the company in 2010 and later led its consumer healthcare business. Earlier in her career, she spent 17 years at L'Oreal.
HP's leadership change comes as the company looks to expand the role of artificial intelligence in its devices and services. Walmsley said she plans to focus on growth as the company moves into its next phase.
Bergh, who has chaired HP's board since 2017 and served as a director since 2015, will remain chair until Broussard takes over in January.
