GM Recalls More Than 67,000 Cadillac and Chevy Blazer EVs Over Brake Module Defect

General Motors is recalling 67,380 Cadillac and Chevrolet electric vehicles because a brake system control module software defect can cause a temporary loss of braking at low speeds under certain driving conditions.
The recall covers certain 2023-2027 Cadillac Lyriq, 2025-2026 Cadillac Celestiq, 2026-2027 Cadillac Vistiq and 2024-2027 Chevrolet Blazer EV vehicles. Owners should check their vehicle identification number to determine whether their specific vehicle is included.
As of October 29, GM was aware of 20 minor accidents potentially linked to the condition, including two with allegations of minor injuries, according to the recall report. The defect can affect braking during a specific sequence of low-speed maneuvers.
The brake system control module software will be updated free of charge. Eligible owners can receive an over-the-air update, while all affected owners can have the work done by a dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to begin December 14. GM's recall number is N262570900.
In a separate recall, GM is recalling 12,715 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans from the 2025 and 2026 model years because a steering gear assembly nut may be loose. Dealers will inspect the assembly and replace it if needed. That recall is numbered N262579350.
Together, the two recalls cover 80,095 vehicles. Owners can check recall status through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's VIN lookup or contact their dealer for instructions.
