Gilad Erdan, Israel’s outgoing Ambassador to the United Nations, has been named the global president of Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency services organization.
During his four years at the UN, Erdan was known for his staunch defense of Israel, including memorable moments like publicly confronting Iran’s former president and wearing a Holocaust symbol at the UN Security Council.
As MDA’s global president, Erdan will advocate for the organization’s emergency medical and blood services, representing it at international forums and promoting its critical work worldwide.
Magen David Adom, with 32,000 active volunteers, plays a vital role in Israel’s healthcare system, providing pre-hospital care, ambulance services, and blood supply to hospitals and the military.
