Democrats Flip the House: MS NOW Calls It as Maddow Lays Out Washington's New Balance of Power
MS NOW projects that Democrats will take control of the House, as Rachel Maddow outlines how the result could reshape congressional oversight, spending fights and the Trump administration's agenda.

MS NOW projected that Democrats would win control of the U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday night, setting up a change in the balance of power in Washington when the next Congress takes office.
The network's election-night broadcast displayed a Democratic-control projection as Rachel Maddow discussed what a House majority could mean for President Donald Trump's administration. The projection is not a certified result, and counting in individual districts is continuing.
Decision Desk HQ separately projected Democratic control of the House at 9:09PM Eastern. Tachlis Daily's election-night master page carries attributed calls and district-by-district updates as the count unfolds.
Maddow focused on oversight and spending. In her analysis, a Democratic majority could issue subpoenas, hold hearings and use the House's role in government funding to challenge administration policies.
She raised possible investigations into the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein matter, the conduct of the Iran war and alleged financial conflicts involving the president's family. These were subjects Maddow suggested Democrats might pursue, not announcements that committees had opened those investigations.
Maddow also said House Democrats could try to bring impeachment charges against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth or Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. She did not report that either move had been decided.
The broadcast also stressed the limits of House control. Maddow said Democrats would need Senate cooperation to send legislation to the president, while the Senate outcome and the final margins were still unresolved in the clip.
For now, the House projection gives Democrats an expected foothold for oversight and negotiations over spending, even as the rest of the congressional picture continues to develop.
