Musgrave, the retail group behind SuperValu, is dealing with a suspected cyber attack that disrupted refrigeration systems at 13 of its stores across Ireland, the company confirmed.

The incident affected one model of refrigeration unit used in the stores, reports said. The SuperValu store in Bray opened late as staff worked to bring systems back online, while other affected stores managed the disruption during the morning.

In a statement, Musgrave said it was investigating the incident and working to restore normal operations. Reports said there was no indication that customer data was affected.

The disruption comes amid a wider wave of cyber incidents targeting European food retailers. Similar attacks have been reported at stores in Belgium, Sweden and Luxembourg in recent weeks, following an earlier wave that hit retailers in France.
