The Bisignano Family Fund has donated $250 to the Trump Accounts of eligible children ages 2 through 8 in Brooklyn's 11234 ZIP code, the Internal Revenue Service announced Thursday.

The gift comes from the family fund of Frank Bisignano, who serves as IRS chief executive officer and Social Security commissioner. Bisignano grew up in Brooklyn's Old Mill Basin neighborhood and said the donation is intended to help children in his hometown build long-term savings.

The IRS said the contributions are in the children's accounts as of Thursday and are invested in a fund that tracks leading U.S. companies. The gift is limited to the stated age group and ZIP code; it is not a $250 payment for every child in Brooklyn or across the country.

Trump Accounts are investment accounts for children, rather than money that families can immediately spend like a cash rebate. The IRS says parents and legal guardians need to activate their child's account to receive contributions from family members, friends and employers.

The donation is separate from the federal government's $1,000 seed contribution for eligible children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. The two benefits have different eligibility rules, and the Brooklyn gift should not be confused with that nationwide pilot program.

Families can find official account information and activation instructions at TrumpAccounts.gov. The IRS says the official Trump Accounts app also lets families claim an account, make contributions and track investments.
