Search crews recovered a missing person's body from Barnegat Bay on Tuesday morning after resuming a search near the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge in Toms River.

East Dover firefighters returned with the Ocean County Sheriff's Office and the Toms River Police Dive Unit, according to East Dover Fire Company, as reported by Jersey Shore Online. The search had been suspended Monday night because of safety concerns.

The emergency response began Monday afternoon near the Route 37 bridge. An Island Heights fireboat crew rescued another person from the water and brought that person ashore for medical evaluation. The rescued person was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The Lakewood Scoop reported Tuesday that the rescued person was in stable condition. Authorities had not identified the person whose body was recovered in Tuesday's update.

East Dover Fire Company offered condolences to the deceased person's family and thanked the agencies that assisted in the search.
