BACK ON HOLD: Federal Court Blocks Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR)

UPDATE: Court Blocks BOI Reporting Requirement Again

A court decision vacated the reinstatement of the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirement under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), effectively blocking the January compliance deadline once more.

Earlier this month, a federal court issued an injunction against enforcing the CTA, citing likely constitutional violations of the First and Fourth Amendments due to mandatory disclosure of sensitive ownership data. Plaintiffs argued the law infringes on states’ rights and burdens small businesses with significant compliance costs.

The implementation of BOI reporting has now been delayed, repealed, and blocked yet again—leaving its future uncertain for now.
