New York's Orthodox Jewish community is set to have a record 10 lawmakers in the state legislature following Tuesday's elections, according to reports: eight members of the Assembly and two members of the State Senate.

The group includes lawmakers representing communities in Brooklyn, Queens, Rockland County and Nassau County, bringing a larger Orthodox presence to Albany as the next legislative session approaches.

The eight Assembly members are Simcha Eichenstein, Kalman Yeger, Joey Cohen-Saban, Sam Berger, David Weprin, Pesach Osina, Aron Wieder and Ari Brown. Sam Sutton and Lisa "Malkie" Vider are set to serve in the State Senate.

Vider, a healthcare administrator from the Five Towns, defeated Republican incumbent Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick in the ninth Senate District, according to local election reporting.

Among the new Assembly arrivals is Pesach Osina, the Far Rockaway community activist who defeated Republican Thomas Sullivan in the 23rd Assembly District. Osina succeeds retiring Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato in a district that includes Far Rockaway, Rockaway Park and Howard Beach.

Aron Wieder also won another term in the 97th Assembly District in Rockland County, where he faced Republican Rob Bonomolo and Conservative candidate Abraham Klein.

The incoming lawmakers will take their seats when the new legislative session begins in January 2027. Education, public safety, housing costs and services for local families are among the issues facing their communities.
