Today, on the 12th of Tammuz, is the Yahrtzeit of Rabbeinu Yaakov ben Asher Ashkenazi ZT”L, the Tur (1266-1348).

Son of Rabbeinu Asher, the Rosh. Famous for the Arba Turim, serves as the basis of what would eventually become the Shulchan Aruch. He also was mechaber seforim including HaRemazim, Peirush Hatur Ha’aruch & Baal Haturim.
