Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz Remembered on His Yahrtzeit

Today, the 25th of Sivan, marks the Yahrtzeit of Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz ZT”L, Rosh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak for over 70 years (1913 – 2011).

Rav Michel Yehuda was a towering figure in the Torah world and a distinguished Torah leader. He was a maggid shiur at Yeshivas Tiferes Tzion from 1940 to 2011 and served as the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh L’Tzeirim from 1954 to 2009, where he was mechanech thousands of talmidim.

A respected member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah, Reb Michel Yehuda also played a pivotal role in Mifal HaShas and was the nasi of the Acheinu kiruv organization. He was a staunch advocate for Torah-true chinuch in yeshivos and Talmud Torahs throughout Eretz Yisrael.

In addition to his own profound chiddushei Torah, he published the shiurim of his rebbi, Rav Shlomo Heiman, Zt”l, in the two-volume set, Chiddushei Shlomo.
