Russian warships have entered the Red Sea through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, according to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet. This move comes amidst ongoing attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on merchant ships in the region.
The Zvezda TV channel, citing the Russian fleet, reported the participation of the cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov in this naval voyage. The Houthis have threatened to persist in their assaults on Red Sea shipping as long as they perceive Israel’s actions towards Palestinians as unjust.
