Tolls Increase on NJ-PA Bridges for the First Time Since 2011

Starting Sunday, September 1, tolls have increased on four Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) bridges connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the first time since 2011. The affected bridges are the Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry, and Walt Whitman bridges.

For passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and small trucks, tolls have risen from $5 to $6. For recreational vehicles and mobile homes, the new toll is $9 per axle, up from $7.50. Buses now face an increase from $3.75 to $4.50.

The toll hike aims to support vital safety upgrades and infrastructure improvements, according to DRPA Board Chairman James D. Schultz, who emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility and safety in the decision. The new toll schedule helps maintain DRPA’s strong bond rating, essential for cost management and financial stability.
