Texas Governor Greg Abbott recognizes May as Jewish American Heritage Month, highlighting the contributions of Jewish Texans to the state’s rich history and culture.
Governor Abbott issued a proclamation honoring the Jewish community and their enduring influence. He emphasized the state’s commitment to combating antisemitism and fostering a strong alliance with Jewish Americans.
“Texas has a long and proud tradition of supporting the Jewish American community,” Governor Abbott said. “This month, we celebrate their resilience, strength, and achievements across our state.”
The proclamation highlights the creation of the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Anti-Semitism Advisory Committee, established by Governor Abbott in 2021. This committee combats antisemitism through education and awareness programs. Additionally, Governor Abbott awarded grants to secure houses of worship, including synagogues, vulnerable to attacks.
Jewish American Heritage Month, established in 2006, aims to educate the nation about the significant contributions of Jewish Americans throughout history.
