NYSE and Nasdaq to Close January 9th to Honor President Jimmy Carter

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will suspend trading on January 9, 2024, in observance of a national day of mourning for President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at 100.

Bond markets will also close early at 2 p.m. ET that day, as recommended by financial industry regulators. Joe Biden declared January 9 a day of mourning, coinciding with Carter’s funeral at the National Cathedral.
