UPDATE: Girls Camp Releases Update on Disastrous Start of Summer

Over the past 48 hours, dedicated community members have been tirelessly working to ensure the safety and well-being of each girl affected by the chaotic situation at Camp Malka.

The camp’s original site was not ready, forcing the girls to stay in a dilapidated hotel in Pennsylvania with minimal supervision. There were insufficient beds and food, prompting local support organizations to step in. Lakewood Bikur Cholim and other helpers drove to the site to assist.

Authorities, including the police and fire department, have mandated that everyone vacate the premises by Friday. Communication between the camp and parents has been severely lacking, and the camp owners are nowhere to be found.

Other camp owners have attempted to help, but the situation remains in complete disarray. Older campers and some staff have been sent to the new camp location, while younger campers are being sent home.

Huge Thank You goes to the Askanim who have been working extremely hard to make sure each girl was taken care of.

Tachlis understands that this an extremely volatile and unfortunate situation. Please understand that we stay away from Lashon Hara, Motzi Shem Ra & Rechilus.

Stay tuned as this story develops…
