FEMA Supervisor Instructed Workers to Avoid Homes With Trump Signs During Hurricane Milton Relief, Sparks Backlash and Investigation

A FEMA supervisor directed relief workers to skip homes displaying Trump signs while assessing hurricane damage in Florida, according to internal messages reviewed by The Daily Wire.

FEMA employees reported that supervisor Marn’i Washington issued the instruction verbally and via group messages while coordinating Hurricane Milton relief efforts in Highlands County, a largely pro-Trump area. Over a period of several days, workers bypassed at least 20 homes marked with Trump signs or flags, logging entries in FEMA’s system as “no entry per leadership.”

The directive, which excluded these homes from early federal relief consideration, has led to backlash from both FEMA staff and local leaders. One FEMA worker expressed disbelief, stating that disaster relief teams are meant to assist everyone regardless of political affiliation.

In response, FEMA removed Washington from her position and stated that they are “horrified” by this incident, pledging a full investigation and outreach to any affected residents.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called it an “appalling example of government weaponization” and announced a state-led investigation into FEMA’s actions, saying these “partisan bureaucrats” must be held accountable.
