Delta Partners with Uber for SkyMiles Rewards, Concludes Eight-Year Lyft Collaboration

Delta Air Lines has unveiled a new partnership with Uber, enabling SkyMiles members to earn rewards for using Uber’s ride-hailing and food delivery services starting this spring. Travelers can earn one mile per dollar spent on UberX airport rides, two miles for premium rides like Uber Black and Uber Comfort, and three miles on Uber Reserve trips. Additionally, Uber Eats orders over $40 will also earn one mile per dollar spent.

This collaboration marks the end of Delta’s eight-year partnership with Lyft, which allowed customers to earn similar rewards. Delta’s spokesperson confirmed that customers with linked Lyft accounts can continue earning miles until April 7, with direct communication to be provided about the transition.

Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, emphasized the partnership’s goal of streamlining airport travel and enhancing the overall customer experience. This move aligns with Delta’s broader strategy to strengthen its loyalty program, which has been a significant revenue driver. Delta has existing partnerships with companies like Starbucks, Hertz, and Ticketmaster and projects its credit card deal with American Express to generate $7 billion in 2024, with a long-term target of $10 billion annually.

Delta and Uber announced the partnership at the CES tech show in Las Vegas, where Delta also introduced other innovations, including an AI-powered app assistant and upgraded in-flight entertainment systems.
