United Airlines Flight Diverted to Memphis After Severe Turbulence Injures 7 Passengers

A United Airlines flight traveling from Cancun to Chicago was forced to divert to Memphis, Tennessee, after experiencing a brief period of severe turbulence.

One passenger was hospitalized, and six others were injured in the incident. The Boeing 737-900 aircraft, carrying 172 passengers and 7 crew members, landed safely at Memphis International Airport around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Paramedics met the plane at the gate, and the injured passengers received medical attention. The flight eventually arrived at Chicago O’Hare International Airport later that evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the matter, which was reported as “severe turbulence over Louisiana.”
