Israeli Supreme Court Rules Against Army Exemption For Bnei Torah in Yeshiva

Israel’s zionist and anti-chareidi Supreme Court has ordered the drafting of ulta- orthodox chareidi men, ending their long-standing military service exemptions, which may destabilize Netanyahu’s coalition during the Gaza war.

The court invalidated a 2017 law granting exemptions, with government delays preventing resolution until now. The ruling enforces universal conscription, including the ultra-Orthodox, previously excused under agreements dating back decades. Ultra-Orthodox chareidi political parties, crucial to Netanyahu’s government, oppose this change, risking coalition collapse and potential elections amid dropping government popularity.
