The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that Ariel Bibas, 4, and Kfir Bibas, 10 months old, were murdered by Hamas terrorists while in captivity in November 2023. The heartbreaking identification was conducted by the National Center for Forensic Medicine in cooperation with the Israel Police.

However, the IDF also revealed that the additional body received was not that of Shiri Bibas, their mother, leaving her fate unknown. The Israeli government has condemned Hamas for failing to return all four bodies as required and continues to demand the immediate return of Shiri and all remaining hostages. The Bibas family, originally kidnapped from Nir Oz, has endured immense suffering, with father Yarden Bibas only recently returned in February 2025. Israel vows to persist in its efforts to bring Shiri and all abductees home.
