Honda is recalling 294,612 vehicles in the United States due to a software issue that could cause engines to stall or lose power, increasing the risk of crashes. The issue stems from a fault in the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU), which may disrupt engine performance.
The recall affects several models, including the 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S, 2023-2025 Honda Pilot, and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned that the defect could lead to dangerous situations for drivers and passengers.
To fix the problem, Honda dealerships will provide a free software update to reprogram the FI-ECU. Vehicle owners are encouraged to check with their local dealers to confirm if their car is affected and schedule necessary repairs.
