It is well known that Rav Kalman Krohn Zt”l was strongly opposed to the trend of Yeshivos and chadorim delaying the start of Elul zman, taking excessive midwinter breaks, or canceling due to snowstorms. He would often say that after his petirah, he would go to Shomayim and be mispallel to the Ribono Shel Olam that snowstorms should fall only on Shabbos and not disrupt the limud haTorah during the week.
Since Rav Kalman’s petirah in 2018, many in Lakewood have noticed an astonishing fact: there hasn’t been a major weekday snowstorm in the town since 2017. For many, this neis is a clear fulfillment of Rav Kalman’s tefillos and a reminder of his mesirus nefesh for Torah.
